Traction / E-mobility

People mobility, energy savings and CO2 limitations are all pushing the growth of electrically driven transportation means. Trains, subways, tramways, as well as electric and hybrid vehicles must become more effective in using energy. Therefore thermal management systems in most mass transit systems must be reliable to stand up to vibration, climate extremes and physical wear and tear.

Priatherm supports these trends by providing OEM’s with some key benefits in thermal management:

  • Outstanding thermal performances with our liquid solutions
    • Higher power density allowed
    • Leak free
    • No risk of corrosion
    • Low pressure drop in the circuit for a lower energy consumption
    • High pressure withstand
  • State of the art AirSink solutions
    • Light and compact
    • High fin density
    • Possible combination of different materials
    • 3D Design for an optimized configuration

Traction – Huge heatsink for forced convection cooling

Traction – Huge heatsink for forced convection cooling

Railways mobility is a strategic area for business development and growth: all Countries look to infrastructures for moving people and goods in a rapid, safe, and economic way as a key asset, and for this reason are investing many resources. Trains and metros have several electronic components and elements to guarantee their normal functionality. Therefore, electronic cooling is fundamental and Priatherm, being one of the major heat sink manufacturers, is readily suggesting heatsink design and technology capability to support manufacturers in the traction applications field properly.

Liquid cold plate for Automotive Battery cooling

With this case study, we would like to describe a particular project we carried out at the beginning of 2020, related to an Electric Supercar liquid cold plate for battery cooling. Electric cars are one of the hottest topics right now, and that’s why Priatherm is focusing its R&D on the development of the most efficient cooling solution. To guarantee great performance, battery thermal management is one of the most complex issues this sector is facing. Instead of going too deep into technical details, we want to underline how our core technology, the brazing technology, allowed us to smartly think the heat sink design, based on the initial idea our customer had, to optimize it in terms of: Performance, Costs, Design
