PT-Mix

PT Mix -Heat sink with brazed fins, combination of various materials and heat pipes

In many particular applications, especially in more technological sectors, including medical, radiofrequency, military, railway, and avionics, using heat sinks made solely of aluminum is not enough for the required dissipation.

In combination with extruded aluminum heat sinks or heat sinks with brazed fins, for example, inserts made of materials with higher thermal conductivity like copper are used in these cases, or special elements like “heat pipes”.

Heat pipes are mainly used in two ways:

  • as heat-spreaders to better and more quickly spread heat from a concentrated source to a wider exchange surface
  • as heat-bridges to move heat from the source towards an area where bundles of fins can be positioned to cool via exchange with moving air

Coupling systems, such gluing or tinplating, are frequently used for these solutions.
