Scientists, the young people of Friday for the future, and now a large part of public opinion, are wondering how to make our planet a place where we can live well for a long time.

The negative impact of global warming, the greenhouse effect, and pollution are increasingly evident: there is an urgent need to find technical solutions that support the desire to change the wrong habits, which negatively impact the environment.

A critical area where the European Community is focusing is the emissions of CO2, and some roadmaps have been defined to determine concrete solutions to the problem:

  • Europe has a mission. Its goal? Eliminateemissions from road transport by 2050. In fact, all EU Member States have already agreed to reduce overall greenhouse gas emissions by 40% before 2030, compared to 1990 levels.
    Starting in 2025, cleaner trucks and other heavy vehicles will circulate the roads of Europe. According to the new regulated guidelines, manufacturers are directed to reduce carbon dioxide emissions on average by 15% in 2015 and by 30% in 2030, compared to 2019 levels.
    The expectation is that between 2025 and 2029, cars and vans will lower CO2 emissions by 15%, and by 2030, new cars will cut CO2 emissions by 37.5%.  At the start of 2030, new vans will decrease CO2 emissions by 31%.  All of these steps will be a drastic reduction from the levels seen in 2021.

  • Europe has a second focus: significantly reduce the polluting impact of the construction sites in cities.
    Directives have been issued with the purpose of protecting the air around construction sites: several machines used to erect buildings or perform road work can cause pollution. The focus of intervention is the compressor, which is now required to be electrically-powered, rather than the traditional diesel-powered model.

Thanks to the inventiveness of technicians and the general progress of scientific solutions, today it is possible to plan a future in which mobility and construction sites are eco-compatible.
